Bike Riding

We gave Logan a balance bike for his birthday (5!) last month.  For those that aren't familiar with a balance bike, its a bike without pedals.  The idea was that Logan would learn how to balance and steer (something he can already do quite well on his scooter) on the bike by pushing himself along with his feet.  After an hour or so on the balance bike he declared that it was uncomfortable and wanted a bike "with pedals".

We stopped at a local shop that rents bikes, where Logan tried out a pedal bike that was pretty hard for him to pedal.  The owner said that the bike wasn't really assembled properly and we should come back in a week or so once his mechanic had calibrated the pedals better (for young legs).  Logan hadn't been interested in stopping by there until a few days ago.

And he now has a bike.

He seems to have no problem with pedaling forward most of the time and when he's "stuck", he lets us know and we give him a push.  Stopping hasn't seemed to come as naturally so we can be heard yelling, "PEDAL BACKWARDS!" when one of us (usually Paul) isn't running next to Logan to keep up with him.

He says soon, he's gonna start doing tricks.  Oh boy....
